Standardized Testing / Accommodations Testing

At Wellesley Neuropsychology and Assessments we provide evaluations to determine whether accommodations may need to be made for children and/or adults taking tests like the ACT, SAT, GRE, MCAT, LSAT, or professional licensing examinations. These services may help provide accommodations for your student through extended hours or private areas. This can also include testing and treatment for test anxiety.

The primary goal is to identify whether a student or adult has a disability or condition that warrants accommodations during standardized testing. This can include learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety disorders, or other physical or psychological conditions. Accommodations are designed to level the playing field, ensuring that all test-takers have an equal opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities.

Types of accommodations may include allowing additional time to complete the test, which can be crucial for individuals with processing speed deficits or anxiety. Alternatively, providing a separate, quiet space to minimize distractions, can be beneficial for those with attention or sensory issues. Allowing for extended or additional breaks during the test, can help individuals manage fatigue, anxiety, or medical needs. Providing tools such as screen readers, large print test materials, or speech-to-text software may assist individuals with visual or other disabilities. Offering the test in formats that are accessible for individuals with disabilities, such as Braille or audio formats may also be required, depending on the special needs of your student.

The process begins with an initial consultation to gather detailed information about the individual’s educational, medical, and psychological history. Goals are determined to understand the specific challenges faced by your student and setting clear objectives for the evaluation.

Upon completion of our evaluations, we will provide a comprehensive report that includes test scores, observations, and a detailed analysis of the individual’s strengths and weaknesses with clear and understandable explanations of our findings and their implications for your student’s test-taking abilities.

Our report will include specific recommendations for accommodations that the individual may require during standardized testing, providing the necessary documentation to submit to testing organizations (like the College Board, ACT, GRE, MCAT, LSAT administrators) to request accommodations.

These evaluation services may prove essential for ensuring that your student receives the necessary support to perform their best on critical standardized tests.
